За да ги мотивираат македонските чети како и сите Македонци за војување на нивна страна, во текот на Прва Светска Војна бугарската политика значително омекнала кон македонската самоопределба. Во прогласите дури и ги повикувале со истакнување на древномакедонското потекло. The Austro-Bulgarian troops have been reviewed at Nish (the late capital of Serbia), and decorations were conferred.
AMSTERDAM, Wednesday
A Nish telegram states that the Kaiser met King Ferdinand of Bulgaria yesterday, and the most cordial greetings were exchanged. The Kaiser watched from the citadel a march past of Bulgarian, Macedonian, and German troops. The Kaiser then presented to King Ferdinand a field marshal’s baton, and King Ferdinand appointed the Kaiser to bo colonel-in chief of a Bulgarian infantry regiment The Kaiser’s retinue included Generals von Falkenhayn and von Mackensen, an admiral, and several other generals, and King Ferdinand was accompanied by two princes and the Bulgarian Premier.
